Armenian  Gospel  Mission

It is a sad but sobering fact that today we are seeing a substantial number of Armenians, mostly the elderly, who are hungry and malnourished. Pensions in Armenia have remained at the same post-Communist level of seven dollars a month. Seven dollars will only purchase bread for twenty days. Without nutritional meals, many elderly become weak and lethargic and we have seen individuals who are not able to get out of bed and are susceptible to disease and illness.

The Armenian Gospel Mission gives assistance to 105 elderly in the Gyumri retirement home (Tzeranots).  The elderly receive three nutritional meals a day, medical care, and free medicine.

The renovation program

When this building program was adopted by AGM in 1999, almost everything in the facility was in dire need of renovation. The windows were broken, the washrooms were not operating, the kitchen was non-functional, and several elderly (sometimes as many as seven) were sharing one room.

Reconstruction of one corridor and living quarters for twenty one individuals was completed in 2001 as well as complete renovation s to the kitchen, pantry, and dining room.
